Riese & Müller recall the Packster 70 and order immediate riding stop

Riese & Müller recall all Packster 70 cargo bikes, stop production and impose an immediate delivery stop. A technical problem with the function of the cable steering is the reason for the premature end of the popular cargo bike.

Safety first: Riese & Müller has discovered a problem with the function of the cable steering of the Packster 70 (to the test) cargo bike and is forced to recall all delivered models. In order to ensure the safety of all customers, the Packster 70 may no longer be ridden. At the same time, both production and delivery are stopped and the cargo bike is taken out of the product portfolio for the time being. The Packster 60 and 80 models are not affected by the recall.

The integrated cable steering is the reason for the recall. It is said to cause problems with the handling.

All customers registered with Riese & Müller who are affected by the recall should soon receive an information package on how to proceed. Customers who have not yet registered can do so here or contact Riese & Müller by e-mail at recall@r-m.de, stating their frame number, address and telephone number. In a statement, Managing Director Markus Riese asks all customers for their understanding:

“We are aware that for many of our customers, the Packster 70 is their everyday mobility and a substitute for a car, which will now be discontinued overnight. We regret this measure all the more. However, we ask for your understanding that as a responsible company we have to act in this way.“

We welcome the sense of responsibility, the transparent error culture and the step on the part of Riese & Müller to carry out this safety-relevant recall. Even if it means a considerable additional effort for all involved, there can be no compromise when it comes to safety.
