The SCOTT Axis eRide Evo Tour FS is the e-tourer of choice for all tech nerds with a fetish for integration who want to impress their peers with a special concept and cool features. The aluminium frame boasts a sophisticated design and houses a Bosch Smart System motor. In order to keep the center of gravity as central and low as possible, SCOTT have tilted the motor to create more room in the down tube and thus integrate the 750 Wh Bosch PowerTube as deep as possible into the frame. At the same time, the concept around the tilted motor also ensures a very unique look. The frame also houses a FOX FLOAT eRide air shock, which controls 140 mm travel and is accessible through a small service flap – and is complemented by a 140 mm FOX AWL fork. If you’re after an eye-catching everyday commuter/weekend tourer, the € 6,299 Axis might be exactly what you’re looking for. The frame design has been borrowed from the Patron but harmonises better with a sporty bike than with the Axis, because the short-travel fork and narrow tires don’t really go with the beefy look.

The Bosch Kiox display shows the battery life and provides all important riding data like cruising speed and range. Moreover, the eBike Lock feature allows you to deactivate motor support.
A real head turner: like the Patron, the Axis relies on a unique-looking motor integration concept. This allows SCOTT to integrate the big 750 Wh battery deep into the frame.
The narrow 2.25″ Schwalbe G-One tires are susceptible to lane ruts and kerbs.

The narrow 2.25” Schwalbe G-One tires ensure livelier handling and as a result the Axis is more susceptible to kerbs and lane ruts than its mountain bike counterpart. In wet conditions, the tires quickly reach the grip limit, even on hardpack terrain and gravel paths. On the other hand, the SCOTT Axis convinces with its eBike Lock function, which transforms your smartphone into a virtual lock when you leave your bike outside the pub. The full equipment is incredibly practical in everyday life and includes mudguards, kickstand and Supernova M99 MINI PURE headlight. Unfortunately, the Patron’s tail light beautifully integrated into the seat stays was replaced with a more functional Supernova tail light on the rear rack. While the pannier rack has a maximum load capacity of 15 kg, you should pack your pannier carefully to avoid exceeding the low 128 kg total permissible weight which, once you’ve subtracted the 28 kg of the actual bike, only leaves a very small 85 kg margin for a fully-kitted rider.

Tuning-Tipp: upgrade the tires to a wider model

With its sophisticated integration concept and burly frame, the SCOTT Axis eRide Evo Tour FS is a real head turner. While the functional everyday equipment ensures excellent versatility, the low 100 kg maximum payload is a real limiting factor for heavier riders. Furthermore, the shallow-profiled tires deliver poor performance off-road. That being said, the Axis eRide Evo Tour FS is still a reasonable option for commuters and touring cyclists who travel light and prefer to ride on tarmac roads or, at most, gravel paths.
