The new Moustache Friday 27 FS Speed Dual S-Pedelec in detail

The new Moustache S-Pedelec is based on the frame platform of the Friday 27 FS Speed 2020. New is the DualBattery equipment variant with an additional Bosch PowerPack battery with 500-Wh capacity, for which the top tube had to be bent upwards. Moustache is a long-standing development partner of Bosch and only installs Bosch motors in its e-bikes. The fact that the choice for the new Moustache S-Pedelec once again fell on the Bosch Performance Line Speed motor therefore comes as little surprise. With 85 Nm of torque and a maximum support of up to 340%, it represents the powerful heart of the latest Moustache creation. A sensible update compared to the predecessor is the Nyon display. With its 3.2″ touch display and standalone offline navigation, you can find your way around even off the usual commute (to the test). In the DualBattery configuration, the S-pedelec has a total of 1,125 Wh battery capacity with a built-in Bosch PowerTube 625-Wh battery in the down tube and the 500-Wh Bosch PowerPack on the down tube. The frame platform still comes with 100 mm of suspension travel at the front and rear.

Moustache relies exclusively on Bosch motors for all of its bikes. For the S-Pedelec, Moustache therefore uses the Bosch Performance Line Speed motor.
Thanks to the full-suspension chassis with 100 mm of travel, the S-Pedelec should offer plenty of comfort and safety on the road.
The Bosch Nyon display with stand-alone navigation is a new addition to the cockpit.

The Moustache Friday 27 FS Speed Dual specs meet the current S-pedelec guidelines. This includes the electronic horn, a rear view mirror as well as a holder for the license plate and a light system. In addition, the developers at Moustache have established five core requirements for the Friday 27 FS Speed Dual, which are ensured by the components on the e-bike:n:

  1. Efficiency and safety
  2. Ease of use
  3. Reliability
  4. Confidence
  5. Versatility

In order to meet the self-imposed requirements, the S-pedelec has a chassis with 100 mm suspension travel at the front and rear. A SR Suntour MOBIE45 Air suspension fork, which is specially approved for S-pedelecs, operates at the front. The Magic Grip Control damper at the rear is a proprietary development of Moustache and is intended to provide sufficient ride comfort. The S-pedelec has a MINI PRO-45 lighting system from Supernova at the front – we have already extensively tested the battery-powered version for you in our sister magazine Gran Fondo. The M99 rear light also comes from Supernova. On the S-pedelec, the lighting system draws its power from the large main battery and, in addition to a high beam function and a built-in brake light, also has lighting for the license plate. Practical for everyday use: The rear rack is compatible with both the MIK standard and panniers with Ortlieb QL3.1 system. In the DualBattery version, the Moustache reaches a weight of approx. 30 kg, according to the manufacturer. With only one battery, the S-pedelec is about 3 kg lighter. The permissible total weight for both equipment variants is 150 kg.

For whom is the Moustache Friday 27 FS Speed Dual suitable?

According to Moustache, the typical rider does not exist. The Friday 27 FS Speed Dual is intended for anyone who is open to unconventional transport concepts and willing to try something new and exciting. With features suitable for both everyday use and touring, it is equally suited to commuting and touring riders. However, potential buyers must be aware that S-pedelecs are legally classified as mopeds and can therefore only be ridden on roads, not on cycle paths or forest tracks.

Whether in dense city traffic …
… or on long tours. With the Moustache you should always be brisk on the road.

Our conclusion on the new Moustache Friday 27 FS Speed Dual

With the new Friday 27 FS Speed Dual, Moustache pursues an exciting concept of a versatile commuting bike with a high fun factor. The new DualBattery design also makes it interesting for frequent riders and fans of long tours, as long as the tours are not on bike paths and forest trails. We’ll tell you whether the S-pedelec will also cause storms of enthusiasm among us, or whether the limitation to the road network is a real fun killer, once we’ve tested it.
