Vado, Vado, Vado: now in its third generation, Specialized’s urban ebike has earned its place in the market. Specialized’s urban ebike has long since secured its place in the segment, and we already reviewed the previous generation.

Now the American brand are launching the new Turbo Vado 3 and Vado 3 EVO. While the overall concept remains the same – a city hardtail with lots of practical features – the new models are based around the Specialized 3.1 motor, which delivers up to 105 Nm of torque and 850 W of peak power. Added to that are an 840 Wh battery, with an optional 280 Wh range extender sold separately. Also new is the MasterMind C4 display with touchscreen, familiar from the Levo 4 and Levo R performance eMTBs. The system brings extensive connectivity and security features, including compatibility with Apple’s “Find My” network, as well as a cleverly integrated rear wheel lock developed in partnership with ABUS.

Everyday equipment includes a rear rack optimized for child seats with up to 27 kg payload, fenders, and an integrated lighting system with brake light. An optional front rack is also available for loads up to 10 kg. The rear rack features four bungee cords, MIK HD mounting points for child seats, and compatibility with MIK Side and Ortlieb QL systems. The Vado 6.0 also comes equipped with Garmin Radar. The total payload of rider and luggage must not exceed 136 kg.

Both Vado 3 and Vado 3 EVO model lines are available in three different spec levels, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0. Interestingly, unlike the Turbo Levo 4, Specialized fit the same motor and battery system to all three levels. Cool! That means the differences are mainly in the spec and features. Pricing starts at €4,199 for the 4.0, the 5.0 comes in at €5,299, and the top model 6.0 at €6,999. Pricing is the same for both standard and EVO models, despite the latter’s more robust spec and extra suspension travel.
