The company behind qeedo is CLICKCONCEPT GmbH, offering their roof tents both online and through retail partners. Based in Ellwangen, Germany, the team focuses on user-friendly design and sustainability, offering a wide range of spares should you need replacements. Among their wide range of products, qeedo highlights the Freedom Hybrid 2+: a hybrid roof tent with a 210 x 150 cm mattress, comfortably fitting 2 to 3 people. Weighing in at 68.9 kg, it sits right in the middle between classic hard-shell and soft-shell models.
Like its hybrid competitors from VICKYWOOD and Roof Space, the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ roof tent aims to bring together the best of both worlds, combining the strengths of hard-shell and soft-shell designs. It’s packed with clever details and offers a spacious feeling, thanks to multiple openings. Launched in spring 2025, the mid-size Hybrid 2+ expands qeedo’s hybrid roof tent range, offering a version designed for 2 to 3 people.

Hybrid Roof Tent qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+: Prepping and Installation
The qeedo Hybrid roof tent comes fully pre-assembled, so no extra gear is needed for mounting it on your roof. Everything required is included – from a repair kit to loops and pegs for securing the ladder. The Freedom Hybrid 2+ itself attaches to the roof rack via steel U-brackets. The brackets are rubber-coated and pre-shaped for easy handling.
What’s more, the brackets work with both narrow and wide roof rack models. If the pre-shaped curve doesn’t quite fit, just flip the bracket – simple and clever. As the cherry on top, the brackets are secured using large, hand-tightened thumbscrews – no tools needed, and faster than what many (often pricier) competitors offer. Qeedo’s design team clearly thought this through.
Another big plus: The screws on the Freedom Hybrid 2+ can be inserted into the track underneath the tent from either side – or even the middle – so you don’t have to lift the whole setup again during installation. Want extra peace of mind? In that case, there are optional two-part anti-theft bolts available – one part gets removed after tightening, so there’s nothing for thieves to grip.

Assembly and Disassembly
Unlike qeedo’s 2024 test winner, the Freedom Air soft-shell tent, the ladder for the Freedom Hybrid 2+ gets stowed inside the car and needs to be attached to the roof tent before unfolding it. Luckily, that part is super easy and quick to do. Unfolding the tent itself is a bit trickier: the ladder acts as a lever, and you’ll need to figure out the best angle to avoid applying too much force on it. Soft-shell tents definitely make this step easier due to their lighter weight.
Two steel cables act as a backup in case the ladder slips, which is very helpful. Once the hard shell of the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ roof tent is open and the ladder is in place, the rest is simple – just unfold the tent fabric. Propping several poles up in the front section give the tent its final shape.
Taking it down follows the same steps, just the reverse. You can leave light bedding inside, but bulky winter gear and thick pillows are better stashed in the car. Otherwise, folding the tent can get tight, and it might put too much strain on the hinges when closing the cover. A smart detail of the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ roof tent is the fact that the anti-condensation mesh is built right into the mattress, allowing it to be attached to the base with Velcro. That way, the mattress stays in place while folding up the tent and is easy to reposition later.

The qeedo Freedom Hybrid Roof Tent in Action
Thanks to its folding design, the interior of the qeedo Hybrid is worlds away from the dark cave vibe of many hard-shell roof tents. Quite the opposite, it feels open and airy, with large windows and a generous skylight. The result? A panoramic view, no matter how you park the car. Inside, there’s loads of room for two adults, and it will even accommodate a child without anyone having to feel cramped.
The 150 cm-wide mattress in the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ roof tent actually offers 20 cm more room than the Roof Space 2 – which costs € 1,000 more. At 6.5 cm thick, the mattress is comfy for side sleepers, too. The cover feels soft to the touch and can be removed for washing.
Thanks to a large mesh organiser, hooks, loops, and a waterproof shoe bag mounted outside on the aluminum shell, the qeedo also scores well in terms of storage. Unfortunately, the main entrance zipper was pretty stiff on our test model – hopefully it’s just a one-off issue.
The optional LED light strip we also tested adds a cozy little touch. However, the illuminated switch is rather bright – great for finding it in the dark, not so great when you’re trying to fall asleep right next to it. Since the switch is mounted at eye level and the cable isn’t easy to reposition, the light can quickly become an annoying bedtime companion.
Overall, you’ll find plenty of clever, qeedo-typical touches: exterior mosquito nets, an integrated clothesline in the awning, and external poles. Those poles not only add stability, but also create more room inside – so you can roll over at night without bashing your knees or elbows. Also smart: the interior openings, designed specifically for the pipes of parking heaters. Combined with the optional thermal inner tent, this makes the qeedo even more appealing for autumn and winter camping.

Who Should Take a Closer Look at the qeedo Freedom Hybrid Roof Tent?
Since the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ roof tent comes pre-assembled, it’s a great option even for first-timers with two left thumbs – though unfolding it does take a bit of practice. The model on test, the Freedom Hybrid 2+, is ideal for couples who like extra space or families with one child.
All three versions – Hybrid 2 (125 cm), Hybrid 2+ (150 cm), and Hybrid 3+ (180 cm) – can be used on cars that are cleared to carry loads of 75 kg on their roofs. If your car has a 65 kg limit, the smallest Freedom Hybrid (210 x 125 cm) is the way to go.
At € 2,799, the Freedom Hybrid 2+ is significantly more expensive than the Freedom Air 2, which comes in at € 2,199.

Our Conclusion on the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ Roof Tent
Compact, comfy, and packed with smart features – the qeedo Freedom Hybrid 2+ roof tent (€ 2,799) is spacious, well equipped, and full of clever details. Setting it up takes a bit of practice and isn’t quite as intuitive as you might expect from a hybrid tent. However, if you don’t mind putting in some practice, you’ll be rewarded with a high-quality roof tent offering panoramic views and relaxed, breezy nights.
