Gozney Tread review: Heating Performance and Burner Design
Like the other ovens on test, the Tread is quick to set up: simply insert the included battery, connect the gas, and light the flame. Its side-mounted burner shoots fire along the inner dome wall, creating an impressive rolling flame effect – pure stone-oven vibes.
In our test, the Tread reached 450 °C within 15 minutes and 484 °C within 20. That puts it mid-field: faster than the Ooni Koda 2, but slower than the Burnhard TONY. The built-in thermometer on the side only measures the air inside, not the all-important baking stone temperature, which can be misleading. Here, Burnhard keep things simpler by opting to do without a thermometer, whereas Ooni offer more transparency via an optional app-based digital thermometer.
The Gozney Tread on Test
Again, setup was smooth. But the Tread really shines in terms of portability and handling: a quick-connect gas coupling, compact dimensions, sturdy carry handles, and a full range of accessories (bag, stand, tool set) make it extremely versatile. Even without the optional extras, it’s the most mobile oven of the trio. Camping, festivals, or the park – you can take the Tread anywhere and it’s easy to handle.
The trade-off of this lightweight and compact build: the baking stone is thinner than those of the competition and retains heat less effectively. As such, baking several pizzas in a row is slower since you’ll need to take a short break between pizzas, allowing the baking stone to get back up to temperature. In this case, Ooni and Burnhard deliver more consistency and easier repeatability.
Gozney Tread review: Handling and Everyday Convenience
The Tread doubles down on portability: its peel and turner are smaller and fit neatly into the premium carry bag. The stable four-legged stand provides a great working height and lets you safely set up and bake on uneven terrain.

The rolling flame also lets you get creative: if the base and toppings don’t cook evenly or achieve the degree of leopard spotting you’re looking for, you can adjust the flame for maximum precision and your desired effect – perfect for ambitious home pizzaiolos. But it does take more skill and vigilance than the competition, since you can easily burn the toppings.
Self-cleaning? As with the other ovens, don’t expect miracles. Discoloration on the front of the baking stone doesn’t affect taste or performance.

In direct comparison: the Burnhard wins on rugged build quality and speed, the Ooni is the most beginner-friendly, and the Gozney offers the most portability and creative control – but also a higher likelihood of pizza baking frustration.
Prices, Bundles, and Accessories
At € 499 (baking stone and gas fitting included), the Gozney Tread is the priciest oven in this trio. Available in green, black, or – for an extra € 50 – a special red edition. Design-wise, it sits between Burnhard’s industrial look and Ooni’s minimalist style.
The must-have base package with a peel and turner comes in at € 648.98. Want to go all-in on the Gozney world? In that case, there’s no shortage of accessories, like a bag (€ 99), stand (€ 249), roof rack (€ 99), front shelf (€ 89), and pizza cutter (€ 44). In total, however, you’re looking at a serious investment. Our complete setup came in at around € 1,300.
To be fair: the accessories are top-notch. That heavy-duty pizza cutter feels so solid you’d be forgiven for thinking it will slice through pizza just by resting it on the pie.
Who Is the Gozney Tread For?
The Gozney Tread is for anyone who doesn’t just want to eat pizza, but also put on a show, thanks to its stylish design, versatility, and attention to detail. If you’re willing to spend more, you’ll get a premium oven with tons of customisation options. Perfect for ambitious home pizzaiolos who love experimenting with and expanding their setup.
If simplicity is your priority, stick with Ooni. If you’re a purist, Burnhard have you covered. But if you’re into stylish design with a tech twist, the Gozney is a serious contender with a real wow factor.
Conclusion
The Gozney Tread is the premium design king of the pizza oven trio: it’s stylish, portable, and exclusive. Its rolling flame invites you to experiment with your baking method and put on a show. The vast range of accessories is equally impressive, allowing you to customise and expand the setup to your heart’s content. For anyone wanting a stylish, travel-friendly oven and is willing to invest extra time and money, the Tread is guaranteed to turn heads – wherever you decide to fire it up.
