The KUbikes 12 on Test
Looks like a balance bike – and that’s the point. The understated design of the KUbikes 12 is all about function over flash. But there’s more to it: a closer look reveals how much thoughtful, kid-friendly engineering is packed into this little ride, and just how good it really is.

The cleanly finished aluminum frame is paired with hand-laced wheels, and assembled in the Allgäu in Germany. The wide, smooth-rolling tires offer great damping and grip on most surfaces, though rough gravel might call for more aggressive tread. At just 3.50 kg, the KUbikes 12 is also one of the lighter models on test.
A powerful rim brake can be finely adjusted via the lever – perfect for small hands. Ultra-slim grips and a well-matched handlebar round off the secure, child-sized cockpit. On top of all that, KUbikes let you customise the colours of the frame and components – all for € 149. A seriously strong all-round contender.

Conclusion
The KUbikes 12 impressed us with its top-notch build quality, smart, kid-friendly details, and customisable colours, making it hard to beat. How the tinkerers from the German brand manage to offer all that for just € 149 remains their secret. Sure, this lightweight all-rounder reaches its limits on rough terrain and it could look a bit too understated. Overall, however, it’s the most convincing balance bike on test.
