LEMO One

With their new One, Berliner newcomer brand Lemo introduced their first E+Bike. This means that it can be used both as an ebike and as a conventional bike without restrictions or pedalling resistance. To make this possible, the Germans rely on a rear hub motor that can be disconnected manually via a two-way clutch, thus allowing the hub to rotate freely once it’s disconnected. The removable Smartpac battery is secured to the frame with a robust clip mechanism and ensures a very discreet look. The compact 540 Wh battery features a carrying strap and also houses the entire motor control unit and Bluetooth connectivity module. Moreover, it can be used as a gigantic power bank, allowing you to charge your laptop with the ebike battery while cycling home from your outdoor office at the lake. The bike is available with a singlespeed, belt drive or 10-speed drivetrain, both with a conventional diamond frame and as a step-through version. The basic price with the battery is € 1,990.

Mocci SPV 2

The Mocci SPV 2 is a very special ebike, a Smart Pedal Vehicle in the manufacturer’s own words. This relies on a drive that requires no mechanical connection between the cranks and the rear wheel. However, this doesn’t mean that you’re spinning the cranks for nothing. When pedalling, you’re storing energy in a generator, which, together with the main battery, feeds the hub motor on the rear wheel. The futuristic-looking bike is made entirely of recycled and fibre-reinforced, made-in-Germany ABS plastic while most of the components are sourced directly from Germany. The robust front pannier rack holds up to 15 kg while the rear rack has a whopping maximum payload of 40 kg. Moreover, the Mocci SPV 2 has trailer approval, allowing you to tow an additional 60 kg and making for an exciting alternative to a van for commercial purposes and deliveries. The Smart Pedal Vehicle will be available from the beginning of September and should cost around € 5,000.
