Eufab specialise exclusively in bike carrier systems, so are they the absolute pros when it comes to transporting bikes? We put the ProBC2 + to the test, which Eufab claim is suitable for cars with extremely large tailgates. Read on to find out how the € 670 rear-mounted bike rack performs!
Eufab’s slogan is “comfort class bike carriers”, but can the brand deliver on their promise?
There’s little that makes the rear rack from Eufab stand out on paper because both the weight and price of around 19 kg and € 690 are on par with the test field average. The most striking aspect is the length of the rails, which are the longest on test. Even if the Eufab ProBC2 + isn’t the brand’s flagship model, we were curious to see how the Eufab would stack up against the other rear-mounted bike carriers on test.

LEGO Technic or LEGO DUPLO? How does the Eufab ProBC2 + rear rack fare in practice?
The Eufab ProBC2 + definitely falls into the LEGO DUPLO category because the rear carrier is as easy to mount on the tow hitch as sticking together two DUPLO blocks. Attaching the rear rack works just like with the Spinder, Thule, or Norauto – it’s super easy! We also checked the brand’s claim regarding large tailgates, testing if we could open the tailgate on a VW T5 bus without having to remove the bikes. Voilà – works perfectly. The combination of a large distance to the tailgate and the tipping function is the key! With the exception of the Atera Genio Pro Advanced, this didn’t work with the other rear racks on test despite their tipping function. In addition to that, the Eufab ProBC2 + has the longest rails on test, making it compatible with long bikes, as well as fat tires measuring up to 2.7 inch wide. Like on the Spinder, the wedge-shaped wheel mounts can easily be moved along the rails and secured with wingnuts. This further increases the stability of the bikes on the carrier.
Eufab offer an additional rail for about € 130, allowing you to fit three bikes and take one more buddy with you on your trip!
Unfortunately, that’s where the simplicity ends. While mounting the carrier on the tow hitch is as easy as playing with LEGO DUPLO, mounting the bikes is significantly more difficult, more akin to LEGO Technic. The small U-frame simply isn’t accommodating enough to attach every type of bike easily and securely. In this case, the Eufab ProBC2 + is just too fiddly! It can’t keep up with the Spinder TX2 Plus and Norauto E-FIT 200-2 in terms of compatibility and handling.
Should you buy the Eufab ProBC2 +? Who is and isn’t it for?
Mountain bikes feel right at home on the long and wide rails of the Eufab, making it our go-to recommendation for the shredder community. Even for campers who have vans with large tailgates, the Eufab ProBC2 + is a good option. But please check to see if it really works – we can confirm that it works on a VW T5 bus! If you always transport the same bikes and get used to the LEGO Technic setup, the ProBC2 + is a solid rear rack. However, if you often travel with friends, it can take a lot of fiddling to get different bikes to fit.

Our conclusion on the Eufab ProBC2 +
Mounting the Eufab ProBC2 + rear-mounted bike carrier on the tow hitch is as simple as playing with LEGO DUPLO. Quick and easy! However, securely mounting your bikes on Eufab’s rear-mounted rack is a fiddly affair, like an advanced LEGO Technic set. If that doesn’t bother you and you always transport the same bikes, the Eufab ProBC2 + is a good rear carrier that even lets you open the large tailgate of a VW T5 bus without having to remove the bikes!
Tops
- wide and long rails
- ample space for the tailgate
- easy to mount on the tow hitch
Flops
- limited gripper arm range (small U-frame)
- fiddly to secure your bikes
